A permit is like having car insurance. We don't really want to pay for it, but it's mandatory. and covers our butt.
Permits are so so so necessary when doing any type of work. They tell you what you are allowed to do on a project and how you are allowed to do it. Working without the necessary permits in place can cause major disruption to your project. We're talking extra costs because of violations and delayed project timelines. Budgeting for both the time and cost of permit issuances is one of the most crucial project initiation steps that should not be overlooked.

When we go over the project, we lead with history and scope. What I mean by this is, we ask questions like, what was the property before? What did or do we want to do with it? What do I have the right to do? We deep dive into zoning and permit records, violations (if applicable), and licensing records. We get into the nitty gritty of everything!
Having done and in depth analysis of the property and project during our consultation call, now we strategize. Think of it as your project prescription to which we give you step by step guide on the order in which permits or licenses we will go for and what is needed for approval.
The next step is the best step, applying based on the recommended course of action. As licensed expediters, we liaise with your architect, engineer, and contractors. We review all documents and plans before submission but please note, we are not L+I and submissions will likely have revisions. And when that happens, we take the appropriate steps until we have the permit issued and in our hands!
